Why Does Exercise Put You in a Good Mood?

Why does exercise put you in a good mood?

Many of us know or have heard that exercising puts you in a good mood, but do we really know the reason for this statement?

Doing a little research we find that exercise has a physiological effect on us at the moment we practice it, our body immediately reacts and begins to release endorphins and serotonin.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter found in the central nervous system that regulates functions such as sleep, mood, appetite, and sexual desire.

Serotonin can be produced by eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, practicing relaxation techniques such as Yoga and meditation, sleeping for 8 hours, having life plans, having a positive attitude and having sex.

But it is also important to see what are the causes of a drop in serotonin in the body, obviously stress is what lowers these levels, also excess heat, poor nutrition and age as it decreases as the years go by, the good thing is that we can take care of producing it!

Endorphins are known as happiness hormones, as they regulate the state of calm, joy and the feeling of falling in love.

By exercising we release endorphins which regulate our physical pain levels as a style of pain reliever and help control anxiety.

Endorphins also regulate our appetite and release sex hormones.

These are produced by our body naturally and are increased by resistance exercises, but the downside of this is that these hormones have a short effect because our body is eliminating them to balance us.

If we had endorphins all the time we wouldn’t be able to feel pain, which is an indicator that there is a problem and we wouldn’t be able to appreciate happiness when we got there either.

Other reasons why exercising puts us in a good mood are because it helps your bones feel strong and secure, it helps with blood circulation which increases and improves the activity in your brain, it releases the stress of everyday life and therefore makes you have a better attitude to the problems of everyday life.

For these and many other reasons we recommend you to exercise regularly, try it and you will see how your attitude improves in a few days!
